There are many things about Canada which make leaving it a desirable alternative. Most of the time these are calculated in economic terms. We think of the costs of Confederation in tax dollars, in unnecessary policies like bilingualism and the metric system. We think of the effects of Canada's wasteful spending on things like a gun registry or perhaps, the Wheat Board, or the CRTC. We seldom stop to think about the costs to our freedom that Canada has created.
Recently we have seen the emergence of a strange new phenomenon. East Indian young men gathered together as a sort of ethnic tribe, have beaten to death a young Filipino man. The media, the Vancouver city police, Mary Wu Sims, the former human rights commissioner of British Columbia, and all the politically correct elected officials are very quick to deny that there is such a thing as an East Indian gang. This would imply that racism is not just a white phenomenon.
The only people who are ever considered racists have to be by definition white. The term “white supremacist” was designed to silence the majority of people who question Canada's immigration policy. This term of course would be applied to any Western separatists who talked about “our culture.” Sometime ago a Culture Minister from Montreal, Sheila Finestone, said Canada doesn't have a culture. The province of Québec, however, is allowed to have a culture. The rest of us are not.
For this reason we were encouraged to believe that the importation of large numbers of immigrants from other cultures would enrich our own. Soon we will indeed have no common culture. The theory of the multiculturalist is that this will bring about perfect peace and harmony between all the various ethnic groups. Clearly that isn't going to happen if recent events repeat themselves. The theory of the multiculturalists runs headlong into the sad reality of ethnic violence.
The British tried to create a multicultural India. The strife between Hindus and Muslims is only the most visible part of the underlying racial and ethnic tensions that exists in India. Canada will similarly be in the near future, not a melting pot, but a battleground between diverse and competing ethnic interests. This is the direct result of the policies of the Liberal government, which originally drew its strength from Québec, and was motivated by its desire to destroy the English-speaking majority of Canada. Unfortunately like the Sampson option, they have brought the temple down upon themselves. Québec likewise is under cultural attack. But the multiculturalists never admit defeat even when confronted with the reality of their disastrous policies.
This is so because criticism of multiculturalism has become relegated to a non-debate and uniformly condemned as “racism” by the family compact of Canada. If Canada continues with its present immigration policy we can only expect to see a great deal more of the type of ethnic violence that was recently demonstrated in Vancouver. The media of course quote all the appropriate community leaders among the “Indo- Canadian community” who all very carefully decry violence and had expressed sympathy for the victim of the assault by members of their own ethnic group. If there is not a quick arrest and just resolution of this incident, one can anticipate further acts of retribution. No wonder people like Mary Wu Sims are concerned. Their illusions can be shattered by this one incident of harsh reality.
It will take several more incidents of this kind to demonstrate that multiculturalism is a disastrous bad joke. How many more before Western Canadians wake up and stop being intimidated to do something?
Another disastrous example of the inherently discriminatory and foolish policies of Ottawa, bilingualism, is about to get a lot worse. You may recall this name from the past: Lucienne Robilliard. Remember her name. She like so many others is in this country and went from being a cabinet minister to a high-ranking, high-paying government job in what could loosely be called a civil service. She became Canada's Language Commissioner. She has justified her appointment by declaring that Canada needs to tighten up its official language policy, which in Canada Speak means we will have more government imposition of bilingualism, and higher demands for fluency in the French language as a condition for employment in various government offices.
Naturally this favor is the employment of French-Canadians from Québec. This is the price that English Canada is supposed to pay to defeat separatism and maintain Canadian unity. The Language Commissioner has the power to introduce through her Liberal colleagues new and more stringent bilingualism requirements.
So many of the impositions of Canada are gradual strangulation. If all the rules and regulations of bilingualism had been specified in the first instance when the language law was introduced, there would have been a general revolt by ordinary right-thinking people. However if with the Liberal party in power for 70 of the last 100 years you can rely on a slow but methodical progress in one direction, then you can impose a policy by gradual increments. This is exactly what the Liberal party has done over the last 50 years. More and more government requirements and regulations depend on bilingual issued criteria.
By this means, Québec where approximately 60 percent of the people are French-speaking has dominated and dictated to the rest of the country. This has always been done by means of the threat of separatism. Toronto, the center of the universe which stands to lose if Canada breaks up, always manages to tell us that this is a necessary price we must pay. They tell us this, day and night, by use of the media which originates in the Paradise of central Canada.
Western Canada never needed to be considered in this regard, because the Liberal party never needed Western Canada to get elected. Strictly speaking they are not economic issues, and any political party who was to be elected to the office of governing Canada has to ignore them. If you offend the province of Québec, or frighten the people of Ontario, who are always afraid you're going to upset the people of Québec, politicians know they cannot get elected. For this reason you see Stephen Harper and all the good candidates for office in the new conservative party rushing out to see who is most fluently bilingual. How totally pathetic!
To top it all off, the Conflict of Interest Commissioner has just come out with a ruling to exonerate Paul Martin from allegations that he flew on privately owned aircraft in circumstances giving rise to a reasonable apprehension of favoritism. Guess what the solution to that problem is! The Conflict of Interest Commissioner has determined that there is no conflict of interest if Mr. Martin is receiving gifts given to him by “friends”. When the Liberal government has been in power as long as it has who isn't their friend? When Paul Martin is so well connected, you can be sure that almost everyone who stands to benefit from government decisions is a member of the same family compact. They're all friends! So as long as they keep the nepotism among themselves, it's not nepotism! “Voila!” as the French say, the nepotism disappears.
It's time for us to face a sad reality. Canada is a sick and decadent country. It is constantly taking its own pulse and confusing nervous twitching with an actual heartbeat. It has constantly imported problems that it cannot solve, and exported resources for which it cannot be paid. Much of those resources originated in Western Canada, both human and natural. In two world wars a far higher percentage of Western Canadians volunteered and sacrificed than could ever have been found among the general population of Québec. But now Québec is controlling Canada. Ontario goes along for the ride, and it has been a good ride for Ontario.
People like Stephen Harper and Peter McKay are really typical of politicians from the border regions of Canada, who in order to deceive the heartland into believing that they are useful idiots, adopted bilingualism and a posture of ambiguity from which no meaning can be derived. They have to do this in order to deceive their own electors into believing that they represent them, who in fact have to be betrayed in order to win the votes of central Canada. That is why Stephen Harper recently expelled a Member of Parliament who dared to say that the homosexual lifestyle was being advocated by those who practice it.
The fact that he chose to use the taboo word “conspiracy” was just an unfortunate choice of words to describe a political reality. What does one call it when many people pursue a common agenda somewhat in secret? There are Liberal conspiracies, and conservative conspiracies, Anglican conspiracies, and one million other conspiracies all seeking to achieve their particular goal without entirely declaring their objectives. But anyone who appears to tell the truth in Canada is considered a threat to the family compact.
This brings me to the conclusion of my brief analysis of current events. It started with the issue of ethnic violence in Vancouver, about which no one can dare to tell the truth. It ended with the leadership pretenders of the new conservative, Reform, Alliance whatever. The one common denominator to all this analysis is the truth becomes impossible in Canada.
It's the loss of freedom that is the most serious aspect of Canadian decadence. Even economic wastefulness can be tolerated if freedom remains. In Canada teachers have been sent to jail for speaking their <W0>opinions. People have gone to jail for putting messages on telephone answering machines that may have been factually true. People have gone to jail and are in jail today in Toronto, namely Ernst Zundel, whose only crime has been to express their opinions on some aspect of Second World War history. Canadian Human Rights Commissions and tribunals have declared that truth is no defence. When anything exposes a group to hatred, contempt or ridicule, even if it is true, if that group is a race, a religion, an ethnic origin, or a sex or sexual orientation, the person expressing that opinion can be silenced by order of the court and if they refuse to be quiet they can be sent to jail. Even a Website located in the United States which is totally legal there, if it is somehow connected to a Canadian citizen, living in Canada, the Canadian can be sent to jail for what appears lawfully on an American Website. This may not offend a great many people because most people don't know about it, and if they do, they sadly assume it doesn't affect them.
This is the way things are developing in Canada in order to prevent the average citizen from realizing how corrupt Canada really is. First isolate and then alienate, then criminalize all legitimate critics. As a result of this process I am the first lawyer in Canadian history to be banned from the precincts of Parliament. This was done to prevent me from holding a press conference, which anyone else is allowed to do in the parliamentary press gallery, because I wanted to speak about the injustice that was occurring in the Human Rights inquiry when the tribunal ruled that truth was no defence. They ruled that no evidence could be called to prove that truth of the supposedly discriminatory statement. This resulted in complete silence in most of the media in 1997. I don't know if I still banned from the precincts of Parliament. Perhaps you would like to write your Alliance Member of Parliament and ask him or her if it is true that this actually happened, and secondly whether the Alliance party voted in favor of this measure. I can assure you that it was actually supported by the House leader for the Alliance party, Randy White.
I do not weep for my own loss of freedom so much as I do for the loss of freedom for my children and my whole country, for which my father, my grandfather, and my great-grandfather have fought. I know that the Canada that they believed in and for which they risked their lives, is no longer a reality where I live. The only reality where I live is a veritable tax-gobbling monster whose ability to extract the productive capacity of Western Canada is limitless. And therein lies the one reason above all others making separation an urgent necessity. Without independence for the West, Ottawa, be it under the leadership of Paul Martin or Jean Chrétien or any other Liberal, will always operate in the interests of the same family compact. This is simply no longer acceptable to a freedom-loving human being. There is a lawful remedy easily available through a Clarity Act referendum. The sooner we take the higher road to independence the sooner we get over our miserable self pitying and deceitful politicians and build the proud free nation of strong and creative leaders.
In 2003 we did the most important thing that has ever been done by us since 1975 when the movement began for Western Canadian independence. We started a petition for Clarity Act referendum. Our faithful supporter who handles some of our mail has just calculated an additional 1071 names to be added to that petition. Although it has slowed since March 2003 when we launched it in Red Deer, it has never stopped. And we have well over 10,000 names in Alberta today. Our goal is to persuade the people of the whole province they cannot trust or tolerate the phoney assurances of eastern politicians any longer. This will not be difficult, as people will quickly see that nothing has changed as results of the election or shall we call that coronation of Paul Martin, despite his proclamation that “Western alienation is dead.” Do not hesitate to take this petition further. The tour of Southern Alberta and that was undertaken in late June was not an enormous success but kept our cause alive.
Keltie has maintained the integrity of the Western Canada Concept for over twenty years with her regular publication of the Western Separatist Papers. These are sent to give hope to our friends around Western Canada. I myself have been very busy in the practice of law. I have come to realize that in the 33 years that I have practiced law one thing has happened more than anything else, and that is the growth of government and the destruction of individual liberty.
In all months of this year, I have defended Michael Seifert against accusations rising almost 60 years ago in northern Italy in the middle of a brutal and partisan war. He, a man of approximately 80 years of age, has been incarcerated for months until the judge would release him on bail, even though he stayed quiet in his home on Commercial Drive for over 50 years in his own name in Vancouver working diligently. He has never hidden his identity. He has faithfully followed all court orders to attend. He has voluntarily taken the stand and swore his oath. He has testified that he did not commit any of the heinous acts of which he is accused. The government of Canada spends millions of dollars prosecuting this case, just as they did in 1990, prosecuting Imre Finta. That prosecution the government of Canada lost at trial, in the Court of Appeal, and in the Supreme Court of Canada. They have spent millions of dollars chasing allegations that are well over 50 years old. Most if not all of these allegations are motivated by political and ethnic hatred. Vengeance is not justice. But Canada has lost sight of the difference between right and wrong. And that is why I believe both Keltie and I have become tired. But please note, we are not surrendering.
In 2003 in May Keltie was diagnosed with breast cancer. After two surgeries and three months of chemotherapy, she is exhausted. Nevertheless it was by her will, her persistence, and her courageous diligence, that this newsletter was sent to you. I have written the foregoing words but they are motivated and inspired by her commitment to see that it was done. And we cannot abandon the future Western Canada to the enemies of freedom even if the cost of this struggle might be life itself. Our children demand this of us. Our ancestors demand this of us. We demand this of us. We ask you in the year ahead to join us in this commitment that at the end of our time on this earth we may share in saying “we have tried to set our people free.”
